About Our Chai Leather

Chai is a vegetable-tanned, full-grain leather with a rich caramel-brown tone and a naturally oily finish.

Its surface is incredibly soft to the touch — often described as “buttery” — while still offering enough structure for everyday use. Over time, Chai leather will develop a beautiful patina, deepening in color and gaining even more character with age and handling.

When dealing with leather, it's important to remember that leather is derived from animals that have lived outdoors. This origin might result in inherent characteristics such as natural marks (like bug bites, wrinkles, scars, etc.) and variations in appearance (stripes, marbling, uneven coloring) on each piece. While we take care in arranging these features thoughtfully, it's crucial to recognize that these natural attributes are not indicative of defects. We deliberately preserve these original markings to uphold the integrity of the leather, ensuring that each piece remains distinct and unique.
